Qashqai or Afshar Tribal Chanteh Bag

An antique Persian tribal chanteh or personal pouch, attributed to the Qashqai or Afshar tribes of Southern Iran. The pile-woven face features a stylized flowering plant or Tree of Life motif on a madder red ground within a dark indigo geometric border. The complete bag retains its plain terracotta flatwoven back and original twisted wool fringes with pom-pom tassels, likely late 19th to early 20th century.

- Condition
- Age-related wear with scattered pile loss, fading, edge wear and fraying to the tassels. Complete bag form retained. Please refer to photographs.
