A handwoven Turkmen kapunuk or tent doorway surround, woven in deep red, burgundy, black and ivory with repeated compartmented geometric motifs, narrow patterned borders and long braided suspension cords with tassels.
Traditionally used to frame the entrance of a nomadic Turkmen tent or yurt. The distinctive U-shaped form and hanging fringe are characteristic of these tribal doorway textiles.
