Baluch Tribal Pile-Woven Salt Bag

A handwoven tribal salt bag of bottle-shaped form, attributed to the Baluch or related Turkmen-border weaving tradition. The pile face is worked in deep red, black, cream, green and orange with repeating geometric diamond motifs, stepped borders and a woven inscription with the date 1969.
The reverse shows the hand-knotted construction, with long multicolored fringe surrounding the bag.
