Indus Valley Painted Pottery Footed Bowl

painted earthenware footed bowl attributed to the Indus Valley region, possibly Harappan culture, 3rd millennium BCE. The rounded vessel rises from a small pedestal foot and is covered with a pale buff slip over a reddish terracotta body, decorated externally with dark painted chevron and zigzag bands and with additional spotted decoration to the interior.
Attribution and dating are based on form, materials, construction, decoration and visible surface characteristics; the piece has not been scientifically tested for age.

- Property from an important private collection, assembled by a dealer and collector over more than six decades.
- Condition
- Extensive age-related wear, surface encrustation, pigment and slip loss, abrasions and substantial loss to the rim. Please refer to photographs.
