A Persian fritware vessel attributed to Kashan, 12th-13th century, of broad compressed form with a short circular neck. Decorated in turquoise and black with vertical panels and a calligraphic or pseudo-epigraphic band around the shoulder, beneath a heavily crackled and weathered glaze.

Attribution and dating are based on form, materials, glaze, decoration and visible construction; the vessel has not been scientifically tested for age.

6 3/4 in. diameter x 3 in. high.
Provenance
Property from an important private collection, assembled by a dealer and collector over more than six decades.
Condition
Extensive old breaks, repairs and reassembly, with surface wear, glaze loss, crazing, accretions and losses consistent with age. Please refer to photographs.
