Chinese Straw-Glazed Single-Handled Ewer

A Chinese stoneware ewer attributed to the Sui to early Tang Dynasty, late 6th-7th century, with a rounded pear-shaped body, tall cylindrical neck and substantial flat strap handle. Covered in a pale cream to straw-colored glaze stopping above the foot, with visible wheel marks and areas of weathering consistent with substantial age.
Attribution and dating are based on form, materials, glaze, construction and visible surface characteristics; the piece has not been scientifically tested for age.

- Property from an important private collection, assembled by a dealer and collector over more than six decades.
- Condition
- Extensive old restoration with repaired fractures, surface wear, glaze weathering, rim chip and losses to the foot. Please refer to photographs.
