Medieval Persian Splash-Glazed Conical Bowl

A wheel-thrown ceramic conical bowl attributed to medieval Persia, Samanid or Seljuk period, 10th-12th century. The interior and exterior retain a heavily weathered cream-colored glaze with traces of turquoise, green and dark painted decoration, together with extensive silver-gold iridescence from prolonged glaze degradation.
Raised on a low circular foot with an exposed pale ceramic body. The surface displays extensive archaeological weathering, mineral accretion and areas of surviving painted ornament. Old collection or inventory markings remain visible to the interior and underside. Attribution and dating are based on form, materials, glaze, construction and visible surface characteristics; the piece has not been scientifically tested for age.

- Property from an important private collection, assembled by a dealer and collector over more than six decades.
- Condition
- Extensive age-related glaze degradation and surface wear, with substantial losses to the rim and side wall, cracks, abrasions and old breaks. Detached fragments accompany the bowl. Please refer to photographs.
