Antique Caucasian Seychour Rug

An antique Caucasian Seychour, or Zeikhur, rug from the Kuba district of present-day Azerbaijan. The dark blue field is centered by three bold St. Andrew's Cross medallions with radiating angular ivory arms, surrounded by stylized geometric and floral motifs in red, cream, burgundy and ochre. The borders incorporate repeating rosettes and angular running devices characteristic of Seychour weaving, likely late 19th to early 20th century.
