Estimate$300–$500
Offered in A Lifetime of Discovery III · Sunday, November 1, 2026, To be announced
An antique tribal ceremonial animal harness or decorative headstall, attributed broadly to Persian or Central Asian nomadic weaving traditions. The long woven strap is fitted with three small pouch-like textile panels worked in differing pile and flatwoven techniques, including geometric rosettes, diagonal bands and talismanic motifs. Thick braided wool loops at the ends indicate attachment as part of animal tack or ceremonial harness equipment, likely late 19th to early 20th century.
