Kurdish or Afshar Tribal Storage Bag, Northwest Persia

A woven tribal storage bag attributed to a Kurdish or Afshar weaving group of northwest Persia, with a densely piled face worked in deep red, blue, green, orange and ivory. The central field is decorated with large floral and pomegranate-like motifs separated by upright tree or leaf forms, surrounded by multiple geometric and floral borders. The reverse retains a plain flatwoven back with original closure loops and tassels. Likely late 19th to early 20th century.
