Korean Goryeo Celadon Inlaid Bowl, 13th Century

A Korean celadon stoneware bowl attributed to the Goryeo Dynasty, 13th century, decorated in the sanggam inlay technique with white-slip floral and fruit motifs beneath a soft gray-green celadon glaze. The interior is arranged with chrysanthemum florets, clustered fruit motifs and a central floral medallion surrounded by a repeating ruyi-form border, while the exterior carries larger scrolling foliate decoration and chrysanthemum roundels.
Raised on a shallow circular foot with three surviving pale kiln-support or spur scars visible to the underside, consistent with traditional Goryeo firing practice. The glaze has aged to a muted gray-olive tone with scattered wear and surface variation. Attribution and dating are based on form, material, decoration, glaze, construction and visible firing characteristics; the piece has not been scientifically tested for age.

- Property from an important private collection, assembled by a dealer and collector over more than six decades.
- Condition
- Multiple old cracks and hairlines, including a prominent crack extending from the rim into the body, with areas of old repair or stabilization, minor rim and glaze losses, surface wear and discoloration. Kiln-support residue remains to the underside. Please refer to photographs.
