A carved wood maternity figure attributed to the Baule people of Cote d'Ivoire, depicting a seated mother nursing a child while holding a second child across her lap. The figure is seated on a tall carved chair with geometric decoration and a bird motif to the back, with elaborate braided coiffure and ringed neck.

Likely mid-20th century, with dark aged surface and extensive handling wear.

Provenance
Property from an important private collection, assembled by a dealer and collector over more than six decades.
Condition
Age-related wear, surface abrasions, minor losses, cracking and wear to the chair and feet. Please refer to photographs.
