A carved wood female figure attributed to the Hehe people of Tanzania, likely mid-20th century. The figure has a tall cylindrical body, rounded head, circular eyes, triangular nose, short crested coiffure and long articulated arms attached at the shoulders with oxidized metal pins.

Retains a Lankton Collection accession label identifying the figure and its cultural attribution.

32 1/2 in. high.
Provenance
Lankton Collection; property from an important private collection, assembled by a dealer and collector over more than six decades.
Condition
Age-related wear, old drying cracks, surface abrasions and losses, with oxidation to the arm pins and wear to the feet and base. Please refer to photographs.
