A large carved wood ancestor or power figure, probably Pare or related northeast Tanzanian tradition, with oversized rounded head, open mouth, elongated body and extensive dark textile or fiber wrapping with corded neck. Heavily weathered and encrusted surface consistent with prolonged ritual or traditional use.
