A small Persian fritware jug of squat globular form with cylindrical neck and loop handle, painted in cobalt blue and black beneath a transparent glaze. The decoration comprises scrolling foliate motifs around the neck with radiating petal-form and stylized vegetal bands around the body. Iran, probably Kashan, 13th century.

Property from an important private collection, assembled by a dealer and collector over more than six decades.
Condition
Extensive age-related surface wear, glaze craquelure and encrustation; chips and losses to rim; cracks and restoration at handle attachments; additional minor losses and abrasions throughout. Please refer to photographs.
