Pre-Columbian West Mexican hollow pottery figure, Nayarit, Ixtlán del Río style, Late Formative to Early Classic period. Of broad standing form with an elongated projecting nose, large flaring headdress, applied ear and shoulder ornaments, short supporting feet, and surviving black and reddish-orange painted decoration. Intentionally formed firing aperture to the upper reverse.

Provenance
Property from an important private collection, assembled by a dealer and collector over more than six decades.
Condition
Age-related surface wear, pigment loss and encrustation, with losses to portions of the projecting shoulder ornaments. Please refer to photographs.
