Estimate$600–$1,000
Offered in A Lifetime of Discovery II · Sunday, September 27, 2026, 1:00 PM Eastern
A Persian tinned-copper bowl, probably Safavid period, finely engraved throughout with animals and birds including hares, goats or ibex and other quadrupeds amid flowering vines, scrolling foliage and geometric borders. The interior similarly decorated with floral and animal motifs surrounding a central medallion. The shallow rounded form, engraved zoomorphic ornament and remains of tinning are consistent with Safavid Iranian metalwork of the late 16th to 17th century; comparable Safavid vessels employ animals within floral scrolling grounds.
