Chinese Straw-Glazed Stoneware Bottle, Sui to Early Tang Dynasty

A Chinese high-fired stoneware bottle attributed to the Sui to early Tang dynasty, late 6th to 7th century. The globular body rises to a tall cylindrical neck and flared lobed mouth, covered in a pale straw-yellow to cream glaze with extensive age crackle. The body is decorated with lightly incised scrolling foliate motifs beneath the glaze, with restrained linear ornament consistent with early Chinese glazed stoneware traditions.
The pale buff stoneware body, unglazed foot and overall construction support an early Chinese attribution. The dating is based on form, glaze, body, decoration and construction and has not been independently confirmed by thermoluminescence or other scientific testing.

- Condition
- Extensive old breaks and restoration throughout the body, neck and mouth, with filled cracks, glaze loss, surface wear and losses to the lobed rim. Please refer to photographs.
